NATO Deputy Secretary General: we must be big on cyber defence ambitions
Speaking at NATO’s 2024 Cyber Defence Pledge Conference in the Hague on Friday (17 May), NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană said that Allies "must be big on ambition" on cyber defence and called for "a new mindset" to strengthen our resilience against cyber threats. “Our adversaries are increasingly defying international norms and using cyber and hybrid operations against us” Mr Geoană said, stressing that “there is no peace in cyberspace”. The Cyber Defence Pledge, established in 2016, is helping boost Allies’ cyber defences. It is also helping to strengthen national networks and infrastructures, and enhance NATO’s collective resilience to cyber threats. Following the 2023 Vilnius Summit, Allies have taken further steps to develop a cyber ‘maturity model’ to help focus their resources more efficiently.
